Welcome to the DNC Internship Application! The DNC is accepting applications for our Fall 2026 Internship Program!
Interning at the DNC is a unique opportunity for hardworking, passionate future leaders to gain real life, hands-on experience in Democratic politics, strengthen their understanding of the political process, and prepare them for future political opportunities.
The program will run from August 31, 2026 - November 13, 2026 and will be conducted in a hybrid format. Interns who are based in the Washington D.C. area will have an opportunity to perform in-person work for the DNC at the Democratic National Headquarters and DNC events. You must be located in the United States to apply for this internship.
The DNC Internship Program provides a stipend of $3,000. Housing is not provided. During the upcoming term, interns are expected to work 20 hours per week.
The deadline for applications is, June 15, 2026.
This internship is limited to current law school students and recent graduates. Do not apply if you are an undergraduate.
Position Summary:
The DNC Legal team provides accurate and timely advice to the organization on a variety of legal topics relevant to a national party committee and its political activities. This includes advising on election and campaign finance matters, litigating voting rights and election administration issues, negotiating contracts, working on employment and labor issues, researching privacy law and creating training presentations.
Internship Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Conduct research and fact-finding on a variety of topics;
  • Draft organized and clear documents, including emails, legal memoranda, training materials, and presentations;
  • Work with the Legal team to develop appropriate internal policies and processes;
  • Attend internal and external meetings as needed;
  • Support contracts work flow via research, template development and initial review of basic contracts

  • Perform other legal and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Attend mandatory onboarding/offboarding sessions;

Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Currently enrolled in a JD or LLM program at an ABA certified, U.S.-based institution;
  • Graduated with a JD or LLM from an ABA certified, U.S.-based institution no more than two years before the first day of the internship;
  • Graduated with a JD or LLM from an ABA certified, U.S.-based institution and currently enrolled in a non-legal graduate program.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Commitment of 20 hours per week during the program
  • Physically present in the United States to participate in this internship program
