Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and direction of the Licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides effective treatment and clinical activities of physical therapy areas so that effective and optimum quality of patient care is delivered.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Graduation from a Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners, State of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • *Must meet all DMV requirements listed below and have adequate transportation.

Knowledge:
  • One year of professional experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of physical therapy principles and treatment methods.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and proper body mechanics.

Skills:
• Ability to follow directions accurately.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with patients and fellow employees.
• Ability to assume responsibility for updating skills as required by hospital policy.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods, position and transfer dependent patients in and out of bed without assistance, stoop and mechanically operate wheelchair accessories repetitively throughout the day.
• Ability to drive in inclement weather.
*Note: Positions that read "- DMV" (after the title in Position Manager and in the job posting) require employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver's License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
