Position Summary

The Guest Services Supervisor is an event-based position that oversees the Guest Services Staff and supports guest services operations at the Tyson Events Center. This position provides frontline leadership and hands-on operational support to ensure guest safety and meet the needs of guests as they attend events at the Tyson Events Center. The Guest Services Supervisor may work in Guest Services positions as needed, including as ushers, ticket takers, and door guards. This is a part-time role with scheduling based on events. Our regular event season runs from September through May.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00.

About the Venue

The Tyson Events Center is a 190,000 square foot multi-purpose facility located in downtown Sioux City, Iowa. It was built, starting in 2002 and opened on December 17, 2003. The venue features a horseshoe-shaped seating bowl with an end court upper balcony with seats and 28 luxury suites. The Tyson Events Center is proud to be the home to the Sioux City Musketeers hockey team and the Sioux City Bandits arena football team.

The Tyson Events Center hosts over 140 different events each year, including concerts, sporting events, family shows, trade shows, competitions, religious services, bull riding competitions, commencement ceremonies, lectures, and political rallies, among other corporate and community events. The arena is host to the NAIA Women's Division II Basketball National Championship and NAIA Volleyball Championship.

The Tyson Events Center is owned by the City of Sioux City and managed by Oak View Group, the expert in hosting and entertainment, partnering with over 300 clients at 400 global properties to create memorable experiences for millions of visitors every year.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee Guest Services Representatives on event days.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to all guests.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for escalated guest issues.
  • Greet and scan tickets as guests enter the building.
  • Greet and usher guests to their seats.
  • Provide directional assistance to guests throughout the facility.
  • Control and monitor all access to all restricted areas for events.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for the Tyson Events Center.
  • Report actual/suspected violations of Tyson Events Center policies, procedures, rules, or regulations to management.
  • Complete incident reports for incidents occurring during events.
  • Ensure emergency exits remain clear at all times.
  • Act as a member of the emergency evacuation team by directing guests to emergency exits.
  • Assist guests with different needs in entering/exiting the facility.
  • Move around to various positions/locations as event needs.
  • Hand out materials to guests as needed for events.
  • Follow all event procedures and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working with the public with an outgoing and friendly personality
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be comfortable working in a loud environment and around large crowds.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift/carry heavy items as needed.
