Job description

Diverse Marketing | Dallas, TX | Hybrid

Compensation: $50,000 Base Salary + 10% Commission (Uncapped)

About Diverse Marketing

For more than 70 years, Diverse Marketing has connected leading brands with retailers across the country. As a national manufacturers' representative agency specializing in the gift, toy, and trend industries, we represent a broad portfolio of brands and work with retailers ranging from independent stores to major national accounts.

We are looking for an Inside Sales & Business Development Representative to develop new retail business, grow existing accounts, and identify opportunities across our brand portfolio.

Position Overview

This role is focused on both sales and business development. The Inside Sales & Business Development Representative will manage and grow retail accounts across the United States while actively identifying new customers and opportunities in the marketplace.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to sales, this person will learn our brands, understand the needs of individual retailers, and identify products and opportunities that make sense for their businesses.

The ideal candidate is comfortable initiating conversations, enjoys building relationships, and is motivated by developing an opportunity from initial outreach through an established customer relationship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow retail accounts across the United States
  • Identify prospective retailers and new business opportunities through research, referrals, industry resources, networking, and outbound outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing retail customers
  • Learn Diverse Marketing's portfolio of brands and identify opportunities based on each retailer's business, customer base, and product assortment
  • Present new products, collections, promotions, and sales opportunities to customers
  • Manage consistent follow-up with prospects and existing accounts to generate new and repeat business
  • Conduct virtual meetings and product presentations with customers
  • Identify gaps and opportunities within accounts and recommend appropriate brands or products
  • Collaborate with Diverse Marketing sales representatives and vendor partners to develop new business
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and sales information within company systems
  • Stay informed on product launches, vendor initiatives, promotions, and relevant retail and consumer trends
  • Work toward established sales and business development goals

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sales, business development, wholesale, retail, account management, or customer service preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working toward sales goals
  • Organized and able to manage multiple brands, customers, and opportunities simultaneously
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail
  • Comfortable learning new technology, sales platforms, and CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger sales team

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious about businesses, products, and the retail marketplace. Someone who can look at a prospective retailer, understand what they sell and who their customer is, and identify where there may be an opportunity.

This person should be comfortable picking up the phone and introducing themselves, but equally comfortable researching an account, developing a sales strategy, presenting products, and maintaining a long-term customer relationship.

Success in this position requires initiative, persistence, organization, and the ability to build trust with both retailers and brand partners.

For someone interested in building a career in sales and business development, this role provides exposure to a wide range of brands, retailers, product categories, and sales channels within the consumer products industry.
