AOR delivers aquatic and land-based environmental engineering, remediation, inspection, and construction services. We support clients such as the Florida Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal and state government entities.
Position Summary:
AOR is seeking an experienced Dive Instructor to deliver high-quality training in Hudson, FL. The Dive Instructor is responsible for the instruction, development, and assessment of both classroom and open-water diving activities, with an emphasis on safety, technical proficiency, and operational standards consistent with both commercial and military diving environments. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive instructional and operational experience to mentor divers in adherence to rigorous safety protocols and mission-critical skills.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Training Delivery: Provide structured diving instruction in both classroom and controlled aquatic environments. Utilize established and modern training methodologies typical of military training programs to foster learning and operational readiness.
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in developing and refining course materials and instructional plans to ensure alignment with current industry standards, military protocols, and client requirements. Emphasize Surface Supplied Air (SSA) and SCUBA diving, with a primary focus on SSA.
  • Safety Management & Accident Response: Instruct, supervise, and evaluate the implementation of accident management and safety procedures, drawing on best practices from military and commercial diving. Conduct risk assessments and maintain safety oversight during training evaluations.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee proper use, maintenance, and inspection of all diving equipment in accordance with military and commercial best practices. Ensure readiness of all gear to support training and operational requirements.
  • Supervision & Evaluation: Supervise, assess, and document diver performance and progress throughout the course. Provide constructive feedback, remedial instruction, and mentorship to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Emergency Procedures: Train students on emergency protocols, rescue techniques, and incident response, modeled on military standards to ensure robust preparedness for real-world contingencies.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all training activities conform to applicable OSHA, military, and commercial diving regulations and organizational policies.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Certification:
    • ADCI certification required
    • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required
    • IMCA Certification preferred
    • Oxygen Provider Certification preferred
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 10+ years of experience as a commercial diver; background in high-hazard, complex work preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience (preferably military) in dive supervision, training, risk mitigation, and operational leadership.
    • Documented minimum of 650 hours of instructional experience within the last 5 years, including accident management and safety instruction in an organized dive training capacity.
    • Experience training in DOD/contract environments highly preferred.

    • Prior service as military dive instructor.
    • Experience supporting U.S. Government, DoD, or Federal agencies in training or operational roles
    • Familiarity with military doctrine, terminology, and instructional methodologies
    • Strong communication, leadership, and mentorship skills.
