Essential Functions
Performs a variety of routine, unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work using manual and light duty power tools, and works under the immediate supervision of assigned full time Street Operators, Street Specialists or Cemetery Sexton. Job assignments include required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects, as part of a crew, performing pavement repair, crack seal, ditch digging, storm sewer manhole and line cleaning, laying and backfilling storm sewer pipe, landscape restoration work and weed trimming. Cleaning of various department equipment, tools and facilities; performs trash pickup along street right of ways, open spaces and various City properties; may drive light duty vehicles and may be assigned to direct vehicular traffic within established work zones. Must have the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees; and ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
