About the Role:
UNDERWAY FIBERAXIS LLC & SEDULOUS BROADBAND LLC is looking for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our fiber construction team in Fort Myers, FL, Clearwater, FL, and or Arcanum, OH. This is your opportunity to be on the front lines of expanding high-speed connectivity infrastructure in a hands-on, fast-paced field role. If you're experienced in HDD operations and ready to make an impact, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
  • Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment for underground fiber optic cable installation
  • Plan and execute bore paths while avoiding existing underground utilities
  • Perform pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on drill rigs
  • Coordinate with locating crews and ground personnel to ensure safe and accurate drilling operations
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, bore plans, and site maps
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of drilling activity, footage, and equipment status
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols on job sites
  • Vermeer Machinery 
Requirements:
  • Proven experience operating HDD equipment in fiber, telecom, or utility construction
  • Familiarity with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar directional drilling machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret underground utility maps and bore plans
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred
  • Strong understanding of safe digging practices and utility avoidance procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and a strong team player with good communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
