Position Overview
The purpose of this role is to improve the effectiveness, consistency, and long-term capability of the South Central District survey organization. This position partners with the District Survey Manager to drive operational excellence by scheduling operations, improving processes, coordinating initiatives, developing people, supporting project teams, and ensuring district standards are consistently implemented.
This is not primarily a technical survey role or a project survey management position. Success is measured by improving how the organization operates, reducing variability between projects, increasing accountability, and ensuring strategic initiatives are successfully executed.
District Overview
Kiewit's South Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Responsibilities
  • Scheduling operations ensuring survey support of new projects and existing project unknowns as they occur.
  • Coordinate and drive district-wide survey initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Improve operational consistency across multiple projects.
  • Identify recurring issues and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Monitor progress of district initiatives and ensure follow-through.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable workflows, SOPs, templates, and guidance documents.
  • Standardize processes where practical while recognizing project-specific needs.
  • Improve documentation and knowledge sharing across the district.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce rework and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with project survey teams to remove obstacles and improve execution.
  • Help identify operational risks before they impact production.
  • Coordinate support between projects when appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource for implementing district standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate district training initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and development of survey personnel.

Qualifications
• Ability to travel and relocate needed
• Bachelor's degree is preferred
• 10+ years' experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field is required
• Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage)
• Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams
• Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity
• Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team
• Committed to working safe and getting the job done right the first time
Working Conditions
• Will manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle stress and immediate deadlines
• Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management
• Possible travel throughout the U.S. and internationally
• Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds
