Job description

Position Summary

Nashville Dental, Inc. (NDI) is seeking an experienced, organized, and results-driven Warehouse Manager to oversee all daily warehouse operations, including inventory management, receiving, order fulfillment, shipping, employee supervision, and continuous process improvement. This position plays a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, workplace safety, and exceptional customer service through timely and accurate order fulfillment.

This individual is committed to developing employees, improving processes, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring the warehouse operates safely and efficiently while supporting the company's overall business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient receiving, inventory storage, order fulfillment, shipping, and distribution activities
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily workloads to meet customer service expectations and operational goals
  • Ensure warehouse operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
  • Monitor workflow and implement process improvements to increase productivity, accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Maintain proper warehouse organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards
  • Develop and implement best practices that support continuous improvement and operational excellence

Leadership and Team Development

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, mentor, and develop warehouse employees
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment
  • Schedule staff appropriately to meet operational demands
  • Address employee performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and terminations in partnership with Human Resources
  • Promote employee engagement while maintaining high standards for productivity, quality, and safety

Inventory Management and Control

  • Oversee all inventory control processes to maintain accurate inventory records
  • Manage and monitor cycle count programs while investigating inventory discrepancies, shortages, damaged inventory, and product loss
  • Ensure inventory is properly received, stored, rotated, and sequenced for efficient order fulfillment
  • Maintain warehouse location accuracy and organization
  • Analyze inventory trends and recommend process improvements to minimize inventory variances
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to monitor inventory activity and generate operational reports

Shipping, Receiving, and Logistics

  • Oversee inbound receiving operations, outbound shipping, and order fulfillment activities
  • Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and shipped on schedule
  • Coordinate Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight shipments along with UPS, FedEx, and other parcel carriers
  • Monitor shipping carrier performance, service levels, and freight costs
  • Review UPS and FedEx invoices to identify discrepancies and minimize unnecessary accessorial charges
  • Assist in carrier negotiations and evaluate shipping methods to improve efficiency and reduce transportation costs
  • Maintain shipping equipment including electronic scales, shipping workstations, thermal printers, label systems, tape dispensers, and related equipment

Warehouse Equipment and Safety

  • Oversee the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of forklifts, pallet jacks, rolling ladders, carts, and other warehouse equipment
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and identify opportunities to improve workplace safety
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of warehouse and shipping supplies, including boxes, labels, tape, packing materials, and related consumables
  • Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions as needed

Technology and Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems to improve warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy
  • Maintain accurate warehouse metrics and operational reports
  • Analyze warehouse performance indicators and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction
  • Participate in cross-functional projects supporting company growth and operational initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and company operations

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of warehouse leadership or warehouse management experience in a distribution environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations including receiving, shipping, inventory management, order fulfillment, and logistics
  • Experience managing Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight and UPS/FedEx small package shipping operations
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); experience with Latitude Warehouse Management System and Latitude Manifest System is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles including cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and loss prevention
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and employee development skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and strong commitment to operational excellence

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb rolling ladders, reach, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (training and certification provided as required)
  • Ability to work in warehouse temperatures that may reach up to 100°F
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and analyze inventory data
  • Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments throughout the workday
