Midwest Refrigerated Services is a full-service 3PL company providing refrigerated logistics services for the food industry. Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100+ trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler, and air-conditioned storage, distribution and cross-docking services. We operate refrigerated and non-refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting and fulfillment needs. The Operations Manager is directly responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse. This manager will deliver quality performance through developing a culture where employees excel, relentlessly strive for improvement, anticipating issues and creatively solving problems.

General Accountabilities:

  • Accomplishes warehouse operations and human resource objectives by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
  • Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting labor requirements; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of warehouse operations management experience. Preference for an associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications and ability to learn applicable application software
  • Possess strong communication (oral and written), statistical and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain workflow while professionally responding to issues as they arise in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lead as a hands on manager that engages at the team level and is flexible in schedule in order to adjust and respond to operational needs
  • Ability to travel to other MRS locations, customer locations, and training/networking opportunities
