The Second Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting second-shift distribution operations to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials and customer orders. This role provides leadership to a team of warehouse associates while overseeing outbound shipping, inbound receiving, inventory accuracy, safety compliance, and overall shift performance.

This position is approximately 80% people leadership and 20% hands-on operational support, requiring a leader who can motivate teams, drive performance, manage competing priorities, and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead second-shift distribution operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory, and material flow activities.

  • Supervise and develop team members by setting priorities, assigning work, and driving productivity.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, and accurate system transactions.

  • Promote a safe, organized work environment and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Monitor KPIs, communicate shift performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and service.

  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution, warehouse, or logistics environment.

  • Proven ability to drive performance, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills with a focus on accountability and results.

  • Ability to make sound decisions, solve problems, and balance strategic objectives with daily operations.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and utilizing operational metrics to improve performance.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and effectively manage difficult conversations.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 5 years working a high-volume distribution environment.

  • Previous experience leading teams, directing work, and managing employee performance.

  • Experience monitoring operational KPIs and implementing corrective actions to achieve performance goals.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory systems, or related operational technology preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
