PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods
SUMMARY:
The Shipping Manager is responsible for leading all outbound shipping and order fulfillment operations to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, shipped on time, and delivered in full. This role provides leadership for warehouse supervisors and warehouse personnel while driving operational excellence, customer service performance, labor productivity, safety, and continuous improvement. The Shipping Manager partners closely with Customer Service, Transportation, Planning, Manufacturing, and Distribution leadership to ensure shipping priorities are executed efficiently, and customer expectations are consistently exceeded. The position is accountable for shipping performance, workforce planning, employee development, shipping compliance, and departmental KPI achievement.
1st Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 5am-1:30pm
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse, shipping, distribution, or logistics experience
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing supervisors and hourly employees
  • Experience working with WMS and ERP systems
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage productivity, labor utilization, and service metrics
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shipping Operations Leadership
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for outbound fulfillment and shipping operations
  • Develop and execute departmental work plans aligned with approved budgets, forecasted demand, staffing plans, senior leadership direction, and company objectives
  • Monitor departmental performance against established goals, performance standards, and KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed to achieve service, productivity, quality, and cost objectives
  • Ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in full
  • Ensure shipping operations have the processes, systems, equipment, and personnel necessary to meet current and future business requirements
  • Evaluate workload trends, customer demand patterns, and operational capacity to develop effective staffing and resource plans
  • Monitor workload and staffing requirements to support shipping volume fluctuations
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Transportation, Planning, Manufacturing, and other business partners to align shipping operations with organizational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with customer routing guides, shipping specifications, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure shipping work is executed safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Monitor departmental performance and implement corrective actions to address service, productivity, quality, or capacity challenges
  • Lead the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, labor efficiency, service performance, and operational scalability
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks that could impact customer service, fulfillment performance, or business continuity

Customer Service & Fulfillment
  • Serve as the primary operational leader for outbound customer fulfillment
  • Partner with Customer Service to resolve shipment issues, shortages, service failures, and escalations
  • Ensure customer delivery commitments are consistently achieved
  • Investigate shipping discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Drive improvements in order accuracy and customer satisfaction

Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, and development of warehouse personnel
  • Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual development plans
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
  • Identify and develop future operational leaders

Productivity & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor departmental productivity and labor efficiency
  • Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for results
  • Analyze operational data and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for shipping processes
  • Lead initiatives focused on improving throughput, service levels, and operational efficiency

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and operational procedures
  • Ensure proper and safe operation of forklifts and warehouse equipment
  • Conduct safety observations and corrective actions as needed
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective measures

PHYISICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Ability to work in various warehouse conditions
