Primary Purpose of Position:
The Manager of Warehouse & Distribution Center Management plans, directs, and coordinates warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling operations. This role leads safety, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, customer service, and employee development. The position ensures materials and finished goods are received, stored, and shipped accurately and efficiently while supporting business objectives and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Promotes an environment in which associates follow company standards for integrity, ethics, and safety.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract, engage, and retain a skilled workforce.
  • Builds effective partnerships with Customer Service, Segment Planning, Human Resources, Integration, and other supporting functions to achieve distribution goals.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements operational improvements that support business growth and reduce operating costs.
  • Drives continuous improvement and evaluates new applications and technology for distribution processes.
  • Manages daily operational workload and capacity.
  • Mentors and develops direct reports.
  • Provides daily direction to shift supervisors and leads.
  • Provides effective service to internal and external customers.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable internal and external safety requirements.
  • Plans and manages staffing, labor, supplies, and equipment to meet financial, shipping and receiving, safety, productivity, service, and employee engagement targets.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing and execution during significant seasonal changes in demand, including peak season.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience leading leaders.
  • Experience leading both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, inventory management, distribution processes, and transportation coordination.
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory control processes, and warehouse management systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and lead cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Manufacturing or distribution center experience.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, or a related supply chain certification.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management methodologies.

Skills:
  • Leadership, coaching, and team development for hourly and professional employees.
  • Warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory control, transportation, and logistics management.
  • Financial acumen, budgeting, productivity management, and interpretation of financial reports.
  • Development and implementation of key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Root cause analysis, data analysis, continuous improvement, and change management.
  • Conflict management and resolution.
  • Customer service focus and strong business acumen.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency with ERP and warehouse management systems, including SAP and PKMS.
  • Project management experience.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Regular presence in warehouse, shipping, receiving, storage, and office environments.
  • Frequent walking throughout warehouse operations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Exposure to forklifts, material handling equipment, conveyors, and warehouse traffic.
  • Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment in designated operational areas.
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, or off-shift support may be required based on business needs.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during working hours.

"The Virginia base pay range for this position is from $91,200 to $125,400. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position."
