Job description

This position is located in the OKC Metro area- candidate must live within a reasonable commute to OKC. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role. 

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall processing of all products/packages outbound/inbound to APMEX customers by the Operations team. Additionally, they are responsible for the overall inventory management, fulfillment, receiving, development of team members, analytical reporting/presentation on performance, and identification and execution of continuous improvement projects.

A Day in the Life of an Operations Manager:

  • Ensure all associates have the necessary equipment and knowledge to execute job functions within each department.  
  • Verify the shipping and receiving orders meet targeted Service Level Agreements with customers and company standards.
  • Develop and Audit processes within the Operations Department as business continues to evolve.
  • Partner with Accounting department to help optimize on hand inventory and the dollar amount of that inventory
  • Update and ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within departments are being executed
  • Manage scheduling, staffing, and accountability within the Operations Department
  • Utilize/Develop reporting tools within internal system to provide visibility within Operations department where improvement/resources need to be focused
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on strategies for shipping, packaging, loss prevention, efficiency and overall operations functions based on individual analyses.
  • Provide yearly budgets for labor, freight, and supplies cost to accounting for company budget
  • Identify efficiency gains in the processes within the Operations department or outside areas effecting Operations
  • Develop daily/weekly tasks for each department leader to execute routinely that result in consistent execution of critical business needs
  • Implement cross training initiatives to help create strategic staffing needs
  • Provide performance feedback to develop operations’ associates
  • Prepare and conduct reviews for new associates and annual reviews for all associates
  • Review weekly electronic timecards to approve time for each associate and address variances
  • Implement and maintain 5s practices within the Vaults
  • Ensure the timely opening and closing of vaults working with Security to adhere to protocols
  • Develop reporting to show the performance of the team in key areas including accuracy and productivity
  • Complete daily audits on critical tasks and focus on continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies and be able to report on their impact financially and/or efficiency gains

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
     

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a distribution environment with direct oversight over one or more of the following within a distribution environment (inventory management, fulfillment, receiving, transportation).
  • LEAN/Six Sigma project leadership experience will be preferred.
  • Experience leading a team with a minimum of 10 people
  • Experience in building analytical reporting tools to help provide insight on operational opportunities
  • Experience utilizing intermediate Excel functions (pivot tables & V-Lookups)

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically, Microsoft Excel
