Job Description

Role Summary

Summit's warehouse delivery associates play a pivotal role in fulfilling our customers' needs for materials and services by pulling customer orders, ensuring their accuracy, preparing them for delivery, and safely and promptly delivering material to customer job sites. Warehouse delivery associates represent Summit to our customers and have opportunities to gather valuable customer feedback and needs that they can pass on to Summit's sales team.  When not on a delivery, these associates participate in other warehouse activities.  This role is one of Summit's entry level branch positions and an excellent role to be introduced to the business and learn skills, product knowledge, and industry best practices that prepare the associate for future opportunities at Summit.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Maintain a clean vehicle, daily driver logs and weekly vehicle inspection reports
  • Pull customer tickets to fulfill orders.
  • Load and unload Summit trucks
  • Safely deliver products to customer locations.
  • Provide exceptional service to all customers.
  • Ability to use iPad to review orders and collect signatures
  • Report all delivery issues and concerns
  • Prepare orders for shipment to customers.
  • Receive and stock products on a daily basis to replenish inventory.
  • Understand products and their capabilities and warranties.
  • Assist sales associates in fulfilling customer orders when necessary.
  • Ensure warehouse and respective outside areas are neat and clean at all times.
  • Maintaining safe practices and proactively upholds Summit's commitment to a safe workplace.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent driving record
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Time management - strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
  • Flexibility - ability to effectively adapt to change
  • Strong customer service orientation

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Previous warehouse or driver experience
  • iPad or tablet experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Aptitude for learning

Physical Challenges

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis

  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles

Pre-employment assessments, drug, and background screens are administered.

DOT medical exam is required for all drivers.
