Job SummaryIncumbents in this position are responsible for supervising the repair and maintenance of the Wastewater Collections System. This position is assigned to pay grade G19.
Essential Job Functions- Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, assisting in conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, and assisting with hiring, terminations and disciplinary recommendations to ensure customer service and high-level staff performance.
- Manages quotes and purchase orders.
- Assist with budget requests for crews and field equipment and resources.
- Coordinate with contractors doing work on equipment or at location sites.
- Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained at all sewer pumping stations while conducting maintenance inspection programs or maintaining various programs with contractors onsite.
- May manage the odor and corrosion control contract and valve replacement program.
- Performs accident reporting.
- Maintains various pumps, data, and Maximo work order system along with site maintenance at locations, SCADA, towers, pump stations.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, conducts safety inspections, maintains lubricant and fluid levels, and cleans work areas.
- Monitors system alarms and responds to assist field crews if needed.
- Reviews plans, conducts draw downs, attends meetings to assist Planning & Design division and other departments.
- Identifies and corrects work hazards and ensures compliance with established safety policies.
- Assists the Utility Collections System Supervisor with daily operations of the highly technical cleaning operations of the gravity sewer system.
- Supervises the daily operations of the Collections Division in order to ensure quality customer service and high-level staff performance.
- Responds to sewer emergencies to uphold the statutory and regulatory requirements of the State of North Carolina Division of Water Resources and the EPA.
- This position ensures compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures.
- Backup ORC if needed in some divisions in the absence of the ORC.
- This position is a member of the organization management team and is responsible for demonstrating and holding others accountable to the CFPUA values.
- This position is required to work in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals.
- This position is responsible for creating a culture of belonging and inclusion.
- This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure staff completes all relevant employment training.
- This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures.
- This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with federal and state employment law.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

- Three (3) years of work experience in the Utility field.
- Five (5) years of experience in Utility field in lieu of associate's degree is acceptable.
- NC Grade 3 Collections Systems Operator certification required or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- NC Grade 4 Collections System Operator certification and Maintenance Technologist Grade IV certification preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina Class B CDL driver's license within one year is required.
