Job description

Overview:
This position is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and managing Local Route Drivers in the pick-up and delivery of Nationwide gear in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. This position will report to the Director of Logistics.
Essential Functions:

Dispatching related responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Schedule and supervise drivers on shipments by working with clients, customer service, and logistics to set appointments that meet the client's needs while accommodating the driver's schedule.
  • Provide drivers with necessary documents, contacts, or delivery information to complete their pickups or deliveries.
  • Follow up with drivers to ensure necessary shipment documents are completed, specific shipment related information collected, and transfer shipments are processed by the warehouse.
  • Be the driver's main point of contact for any questions/issues regarding shipments or Nationwide in general.
  • Collect any driver feedback and work with appropriate parties to resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise.
  • Monitors Driver's working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Oversees maintenance and repair schedules for all vehicles.
  • Responsible for driver-related reporting requests such as tracking costs, safety checks, driver logs, etc.
  • Provide additional support to Logistics as needed.
  • Responsibility for any Ad hoc projects as initiated by the Director of Logistics

Interpersonal and managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Enforcing company Handbook, policies, and procedures.
  2. Interviewing and hiring personnel.
  3. Training new employees.
  4. Planning, assigning and directing work.
  5. Establishing goals to align with overall business objectives.
  6. Appraising employee performance and providing feedback.
  7. Rewarding and disciplining employees.
  8. Address inter and intra-departmental complaints and resolve problems.

Technical Competencies:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises all Local Route Drivers.
Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and warehouse environments and is regularly exposed to heavy machinery and noise.
Physical Demands:
Walk, sit, stand, bend, lift, and move continuously during work hours. Is subject to lifting over 10 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of office operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work are required as job duties demand.
Travel:
Travel to Nationwide locations annually for training or as needed to provide driver training, assist with hiring, or any other driver/truck needs that arise. Estimated 20% of travel.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing dispatching responsibilities
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Logistics and Fulfillment related environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience performing dispatching responsibilities
  • 3+ years of experience in a Logistics and Fulfillment related environment
  • Associate's degree in Logistics, Transportation, or industry-related Certification
