Job description

Summary:

Dispatches delivery drivers and provides driver and customersupport. Arranges schedules for workers, equipment, and/or service vehicles forthe conveyance of materials and products. Maintain communications with allinterested parties throughout the delivery process to ensure and facilitate thebest possible product delivery and service. Update information and systems asrequired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

a Timely dispatches drivers each morning, assuring that eachdriver has the correct invoices, and all drivers depart the terminal promptly.

a Completes Absentee and Tardy Forms.

a Makes necessary data input into E-Time and AchievementBased Compensation (ABC) pay systems.

a Provides driver and customer support via incoming phonecalls to the transportation department.

a Maintains Trip master records, driver daily record ofstatus records (Department of Transporation (DOT) Logs), and driver Manifestrecords.

a Designates vehicles according to factors, such as lengthand purpose of the trip, freight, passenger requirements, preference of theuser, or other factors.

a May makes route adjustments or accommodations fordeliveries, based on time of departure, destination, and expected time ofreturn.

a Direct activities of drivers, using two-way radio or othercommunication and investigate overdue vehicles.

a Possibly confer with customers to expedite or locatemissing, misrouted, or delayed routes, or damaged merchandise.

a Retain a record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, andother expenses. May also coordinate the issue of equipment to drivers, such ashand trucks, dollies, and blankets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

a High School diploma, General Education Development (GED),or ability to read, write, and perform mathematics at this level is required.

a Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, SupplyChain, or related field is preferred.

Experience

a 3-5 years of related work experience in Distribution orFood Service is required.
