The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily waste collection operations by effectively utilizing drivers, routes, and equipment to maximize productivity and ensure exceptional customer service. This position serves as the central point of communication between drivers, operations management, maintenance personnel, and customers to ensure all routes are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Dispatch drivers and assign routes based on daily operational needs.
    • Monitor vehicle locations, route progress, and service completion throughout the day.
    • Communicate with drivers regarding route changes, delays, service requests, accidents, breakdowns, and emergencies.
    • Coordinate with Operations Managers, Route Supervisors, and Maintenance personnel to minimize service disruptions.
    • Ensure timely completion of residential, commercial, and municipal collection routes.
    • Respond to customer service issues and provide prompt resolution or escalation when necessary.
    • Maintain accurate records of route activity, driver assignments, customer requests, and operational reports.
    • Track missed pickups, extra pickups, container deliveries, and special service requests.
    • Utilize dispatching, GPS, routing, and fleet management software systems.
    • Assist with scheduling driver coverage for vacations, absences, and unexpected operational demands.
    • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
    • Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports as needed.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve route efficiency and customer satisfaction.
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
    • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
    Experience and Qualifications
    • Minimum of 2 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, fleet operations, or waste management experience preferred.
    • Prior experience in the waste, recycling, transportation, trucking, or service industry strongly preferred.

    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and dispatch management software.
