About the Role & Program

ABC13 (KTRK-TV) Houston leads the market in local news coverage with daily newscasts and has been in a number one position in local news for several years!

What You Will Do

Our Eyewitness News is looking for an intern who wants to learn from the experienced team from Houston's #1 source for news. Our ideal candidate is ready to develop their news judgment, writing skills, and prepared to experience what broadcast news brings daily.

  • Travel with reporters and photojournalists in the field for newsgathering and live remotes

  • Write copy and edit video for newscasts

  • Observe producers and executive producers in their respective roles

  • Attend morning and afternoon editorial meetings

  • Get an up-close look at how news is distributed beyond TV to our myriad of digital and social media platforms

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in broadcasting, new media production or script writing

  • Proficiency with video editing experience in Adobe Premiere

  • Proficiency with social media

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment but also work well independently

Education

  • Junior or Senior year preferred

  • Declared major or previous coursework in a mass media/new media-related field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • Fully available from August 2026 through January 2027

  • Fully available for the duration of the internship, working 18- 20 hours each week

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Houston, TX area

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
