About the Role & Program

ABC News Live is a 24/7 streaming video news channel where viewers can watch live special events and breaking news coverage, along with context and analysis of the day's powerful stories you won't see anywhere else!

A 24/7 on-demand news and information destination, ABC News Live provides live breaking news and original reporting on topics relevant to our audiences from politics, weather, business, health, personal finance, entertainment, culture, lifestyle and travel.

The approximate dates of this internship are mid-August 2026 through early January 2027. This intern will be on the First Hour team and the hours will be a Monday-Friday schedule, 5:30am ET - 1:30pm ET.

What You Will Do

Interns perform a variety of duties. You will be assisting producers and staff with all aspects of production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Logging and transcribing during breaking news
  • Assisting with graphics
  • Researching and pitching stories
  • Video editing
  • Shadowing in control room
  • Shadowing/assisting during filming
  • Assisting with social media
  • Running scripts
  • Running teleprompter
  • Assisting on segments
  • Fact checking

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
  • Experience working in collaborative environments, and researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
  • Familiar with and/or interest in journalism or news writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
  • Experience video editing using AVID or similar editing software

Education

  • Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
  • Junior or Senior year preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • The approximate dates ofthis internship are mid-August 2026 through early January 2027
  • Fully available to work 40 hours per week with the schedule of Monday-Friday, 5:30am ET - 1:30pm ET.
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
