Be Part of the Story at The Walt Disney Company as the Senior Manager, Product Design – Lifestyle Home! This role will lead and manage the successful operation of our Lifestyle Home design team. We collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution (flex business models, vertical and wholesale) that build brand equity and meet financial targets.

This role reports to the Director of Product Design.

This is a full-time role.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead and engage with an internal team to concept, design, sketch, prototype (including leading art-to-product, 3D modeling, sample creation and development), and deliver trend-right consumer centric product lines that feature market-leading innovation and great price/value for each tier of the value pyramid.

  • Lead multiple external vendors to develop product concepts against strategic design vision for the overall product or assortment mix, ensuring market relevance and item incrementality.

  • Develop and coach outstanding design talent through consistent feedback on performance and provide regular development check-ins; both with cast members you directly lead and those you may mentor.

  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects, running simultaneously with varying levels of complexity.

  • Collaborate with the greater product design and creative teams to drive up-front trends, overall creative direction, and identify future areas of growth within the franchise and across product categories.

  • Prepare and socialize custom design tools (i.e. concept boards, product decks, trend & shopping reports, etc.) and deliver retail pitches to cross-functional partners and creative leaders with a focus on innovation, market and category relevancy, and the unique needs of the Disney guest.

  • Collaborate with internal partners and external partners to keep design and development on time, on track, and on target from concept to on-stage set.

  • Lead and complete product and packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative approval meetings, ensuring high quality standards in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form, and function while increasing profitability.

  • Monitor competitors, product innovation, and market dynamics.

  • Lead operating budget for category.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • 6+ years of product design experience including lifestyle home product category experience

  • 3+ years of prior experience leading and managing, managing up to senior leaders and across with peers and partners

  • Proven proficiency in home decor with a focus on trend storytelling, graphic creation, manipulation, and application across substrates, assortment curation, and the technical skillset to translate conceptual ideas into tangible products.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, adept at swiftly pivoting priorities to meet changing demands

  • Extensive knowledge in hardlines/softlines categories (raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, manufacturing)

  • Strong product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, fabric and trim identification)

  • Strong computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator)

  • Experience in 3D design, ZBrush (a plus)

  • Experience acting as a bridge between execution and strategy; to translate strategy into action

  • Experience taking ownership of business results

  • Experience as a day-to-day decision maker including the ability to filter through complex issues, find solutions, gain support and implement change

  • Experience influencing key partners and stakeholders

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong negotiating skills

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $132,600 to $177,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
