Position Summary

The primary purpose of your job position is to clean dishes, glassware, silverware, pots and pans by hand or machines and to provide assistance in all dietary/food services functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministrative
  • Work with the facility's manager or director as necessary and implement recommended changes are required.
  • Ensure that all dietary/food services procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., submit to the Director of Food Services.
  • Coordinate dietary/food services with other departments as necessary.
  • Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
Personnel Functions
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food services can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Report any occupational exposure to the Manager of Food Services and/or the Director.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
Staff Development
  • Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed.
  • Attend an participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.
  • Attend and participate in annual OSHA in-service training programs for hazardous communication, TB management, and blood borne pathogens standard.
Dietary Service
  • Operate dishwasher in a satisfactory manner.
  • Take tray carts to each floor and returns trays in a timely fashion.
  • Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
  • Serve food in dining room to residents as instructed in a courteous manner.
Safety and Sanitation and Equipment Functions
  • Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment immediately to the Manager of the Food Services department and/or Director.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
  • Follows established fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Report missing/illegible labels of MSDSs to the Manager of the Food Services department and/or Director.
Equipment and Supply Functions
  • Checks condition of equipment and requisitions maintenance and repair or replacement.
  • Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.
Miscellaneous
  • Assist in serving food for special meals, for parties, etc.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.
