What does it mean to be disabled at home?

Being 'Disabled At Home' typically refers to individuals who have a disability that limits their mobility, health, or ability to work outside the home, requiring them to stay at home for daily living. These individuals may receive support through home care services, adaptive technologies, or government disability benefits. The goal is to help them maintain independence and quality of life while living in a familiar environment. Resources and accommodations can vary depending on the nature of the disability and available community or governmental support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home health aide, and why are they important?

Familiarity with care documentation systems and basic medical equipment is typically required. Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills help build trust and provide emotional support to clients. These skills ensure clients' safety, comfort, and quality of life while allowing effective collaboration with families and healthcare professionals.
