Essential Functions
The School of Public Administration (SPA), University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management, beginning January 2027 or August 2027. Candidates should hold a PhD in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. We seek candidates who will make significant contributions to our doctoral and master's programs, rigorous research, and engagement with the vibrant nonprofit and philanthropic community in Omaha.
The successful candidate must be able to teach in-person and online courses in nonprofit management at the master and doctoral level and other electives in public or nonprofit management or public policy; provide service on doctoral dissertation committees; and help supervise doctoral students teaching. The successful candidate must demonstrate promise of excellence in research and be committed to community engagement and professional service. The typical teaching load for research-productive faculty is two courses per semester. On-campus presence is required.
SPA has a vibrant, collaborative academic culture. It is home to one of the longest-accredited MPA programs in the country, offered both online and on campus. The MPA program is ranked among the top 15 percent and is ranked #6 in Public Budgeting and Finance, #12 in Local Government, and #26 in Nonprofit Management. In addition to the MPA, SPA is home to a PhD program in Public Administration, a BS in Emergency Management, and several minors and certificates. We also have dual master's degrees with Social Work, Gerontology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Health & Kinesiology, and Management Information Systems. We have an MPA concentration in nonprofit management, and several doctoral students study this area. UNO is a Carnegie Doctoral Research University.
