What you'll be doing
  • You will independently manage a caseload of Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims from intake through resolution, partnering with claimants, employers, and medical professionals via phone and email to gather and assess information related to disability status and applicable state and federal benefits.
  • You will conduct initial and ongoing interviews with claimants to gather key information for claim evaluation, while reviewing medical documentation and partnering with clinical and vocational experts to support informed decisions.
  • You will deliver timely and ethical claim determinations, ensuring consistency with company guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • You will collaborate with case managers, nurse case managers, vocational specialists, and consulting physicians to support appropriate, ethical, and timely claim determinations.
  • You will review complex medical records and leverage a variety of tools and resources to determine appropriate claim durations and guide ongoing action planning throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • You will deliver exceptional customer service by proactively identifying needs and opportunities, while building strong relationships with claimants, employers, and internal partners.

What we're looking for
Must-have experience (Required):
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's).
  • 1+ Years of long-term disability claims experience directly aligned with the specific responsibilities for this role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task.

Nice-to have Experience (Preferred):
  • Experience mentoring or coaching newer examiners.
  • Continuous improvement mindset (process optimization, efficiency, quality).
  • Exposure to predictive analytics / AI tools.

The pay range for this position is $44,800 - $81,400 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
