Job Summary

Secure and analyze LTD (long term disability) claim information to make and approve disability decisions and payments on disability claims. Develop, apply and approve appropriate claim and disability management strategies to ensure prompt and accurate payment and liability management of disability claims. Provide responsive and caring customer service to claimants, policyholders, and other internal and external customers; participate actively and effectively in team/department projects and issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and analyze medical, occupational, and policy information to determine LTD eligibility and resolve discrepancies within required timeframes.

  • Make and communicate disability decisions, issue accurate benefits, and manage each claim with an appropriate liability and disability management strategy.

  • Monitor ongoing medical updates, vocational factors, policy provisions, and deductible income to drive timely and appropriate claim resolution.

  • Provide proactive, professional communication to claimants, policyholders, and internal partners; resolve issues and support clientfacing activities as needed.

  • Support team effectiveness by approving decisions from lessexperienced staff, providing training, and ensuring accurate claim data and reserve liability.

Skills and Background You'll Need

Education:High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum eighteen months progressively responsible experience indisability claims administration; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in LTD (long term disability) claims (HIGHLY PREFERRED)

  • Demonstrated skills for appropriate, timely and customer-focused disability claim account management and administration.

  • Ability to analyze and apply medical, technical, contractual and legal information to manage an increasingly complex range of disability claims.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

$66,000.00 - $96,250.00
