Registered Nurse - PCU (Post-Care Unit) – Shreveport, LA

What You'll Do

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients on the Stroke and Medical-Surgical units
  • Manage a patient load with RN: 1:3 and CNA: 1:7 ratios
  • Administer titratable medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required to offer without this experience)
  • Support patient stabilization, including chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and performing lumbar CSF drains (preferred)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalist, RT, OT, PT, and ST
  • Complete charting accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
  • Support unit operations, including orientation, float coverage, and holiday staffing

What You Need

Required:
  • Valid RN licensure in Louisiana or eligible for license reciprocity
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience
  • BLS, ACLS, NIH certifications
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
Preferred:
  • Experience with titratable gtts, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, Peritoneal Dialysis, and lumbar drains
  • Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced hospital environment

About the Assignment Join a leading facility in Shreveport, LA, with a 24-bed unit specializing in Stroke, Cardiology, and Surgical Care. You will be contributing to a dynamic team that values patient-centered care and teamwork. Orientation includes hospital training plus two 12-hour shifts on the unit to ensure you're fully prepared. Schedule includes every other weekend, holidays as needed, and a rotating night shift pattern that offers variety and flexibility.
