Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Quality is a key member of the hospital management team, responsible for overall hospital quality, performance improvement, and monitoring. This role ensures differentiated quality and safety, patient-focused, outcomes-based, and cost-effective care. Responsibilities include evaluating improvement opportunities, implementing quality initiatives, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulations, leading clinical improvements, and supporting patient safety, risk management, infection control, and peer review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements processes to identify and improve high-quality, safe, and resource-effective medical care.

  • Leads quality/performance improvement initiatives and ensures goals are met.

  • Monitors clinical outcomes in partnership with medical staff, identifies improvements, and documents results.

  • Ensures compliance with accreditation, licensing, regulatory agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, state requirements).

  • Oversees patient safety, risk management, infection control, peer review, and related functions.

  • Provides leadership, training, and support for incident reporting, hazard identification, and policy compliance.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in a health-related field.

Minimum Experience/Skills:

  • 5+ years relevant hospital management experience (or 7+ years for allied health professionals with pertinent credentials).

  • Experience in quality/performance improvement (plus case management, peer review, risk management, patient safety, infection control as applicable).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance improvement, outcomes/quality management, QIO guidelines, and current trends.

  • Ability to analyze data; excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in computers, statistics, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Understanding of Joint Commission, state/CMS regulations.

  • Ability to lead diverse teams and drive change.

License/Certificates/Credentials: None required.
