Job description

As Director Technology, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of our technology roadmaps. You'll collaborate with leaders and peers to develop business strategies, engage with customers and business partners to align roadmaps and develop relationships to foster collaborations that will enable profitable growth. You'll lead an exceptional team to deliver new product development goals, optimize, implement, and execute technology roadmaps for speedy and smooth product development and commercialization and provide technical support to win new business.The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement technology roadmaps that align with business strategies and objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work with senior leaders and peers to develop and execute business strategies.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers and business partners to align technology roadmaps and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of technology professionals to achieve product development goals and objectives.
  • Product Development: Oversee the optimization, implementation, and execution of technology roadmaps to ensure smooth product development and commercialization.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to business development teams to win new business opportunities.
  • Innovation Management: Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the technology team.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study.
  • 13+ years of experience in technology management or a related field within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 17 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: strategic planning business development, capture management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, technical roadmaps, exportable technologies.
  • Working knowledge and experience with various technical matters in support of the exportability, technical determination and release of products and services.
  • Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
  • Proficiency in emerging technologies and trends including big data, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
  • Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology and business.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms; ability to tailor conversations to adapt to technical vs. non-technical audiences.
  • Extensive experience developing technology and IRaD (Research and Development) roadmaps, and seeing them through to completion.
  • An Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Master's degree or higher in an Engineering or similar field of study.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
  • Relevant technical certifications and understanding of industry standards including MIL Standards, DOD Architecture Framework, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), and Modular Open Systems Approach/Sensor Open System Architecture (MOSA/SOSA) open architecture standards.
  • Hands-on experience with agile and DevOps practices for technology development and deployment.
  • Previous management experience; ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee staffing development and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
  • Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology and business.
  • Strong track record of engaging with customers to understand their needs and translated them into technical requirements.
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Regular use of hand/finger dexterity for typing and writing.
  • Ability to travel is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to work in an office or hybrid environment, adapting to flexible work arrangements.
  • Strong mental acuity to analyze and synthesize complex technical and strategic information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information to C-suite executives and stakeholders.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $210,124.21 - $288,920.79. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
