Job description

Position Title: AWS Certified Adjunct Faculty

Department: Academics

Job Type: Part-time; Exempt

Reports to: Computer Science Department Director

Summary

An AWS-certified professional to impart knowledge of AWS & basic computer science including theory, practical skills, methods, and techniques to students. Professor will teach AWS courses in areas such as Foundations of Computing for the Cloud, Cloud System Architecture, Data Storage & Management for Cloud Computing, SysOps in the Cloud, and/or Software Development in the Cloud. Other aspects of teaching include; supervision of instructional activities, curriculum and course development; and creation of teaching and instructional materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more classes per trimester of Computer Science & Engineering
  • Interact and support our student's success in classes, careers, and academic progress.
  • Collaborate with Department Director and Faculty in curriculum implementation, student support, and continuous program improvement
  • Ensure curriculum and syllabi are up to date and all classes have relevant materials for a degree program
  • Maintain regular office hours outside of instructional time
  • Participate in department meetings and student success initiatives
  • Participate in course and program learning assessment
  • Maintain industry knowledge
  • Other duties and related projects as assigned
  • Maintain teaching and learning skills by attending faculty development sessions and events

Certifications:

At least or more of the following AWS certificates are required:

  • AWS Solutions Architect Certificate
  • AWS SysOps Administrator Certificate
  • AWS Developer Certificate
  • AWS Big Data Certificate
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate

Education:

Master's Degree in a Related Field OR Bachelor's Degree with years of experience in the field. A bachelor's degree is only acceptable with industry experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3years of experience working at a professional level with practical domain-specific experience.
  • Teaching experience in an academic or professional setting is preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with and help students succeed in the courses
  • Knowledge of Canvas Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Strong technology skills in teaching and learning.
  • Ability to collect and analyze information
  • Competent in a wide variety of tools, techniques, and methods related to their field.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to work with others in a collegial and productive manner.
