Job Title: Director of Engineering
Position Location: Greater Boston
Approx. Length of Position: Direct Hire
Degree Required:  Degree in Architecture or Engineering, or 5-10 years of operational experience in managing Design & Architecture staffing.
The Director of Engineering will have overall responsibility for managing the engineering group, which collaborates directly with operations staff in designing a wide range of radiation shielding solutions. This role involves overseeing the development of radiation shielding, diagnostic shop drawings, manufacturing drawings, and installation drawings, and managing timelines for shielding projects. The ideal candidate will also have the skills to manage and continually improve design standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the Engineering Group, including project assignments.
  • Directly manage the project backlog to ensure deliverables are aligned with company operational requirements.
  • Attend project transfer meetings with the company team when projects are booked and transferred through the sales unit.
  • Review project scope, budget, and schedule with engineering staff upon project assignment to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Conduct routine project reviews to ensure scope and requirements are fully incorporated.
  • Price and verify all Engineering Change Orders before work commences.
  • Coordinate scope and staffing for Design-Build projects when necessary.
  • Oversee India operations, including staff training for various modalities, workload assignment, output review to ensure accuracy and completeness, and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Review shielding shop drawings, manufacturing drawings, and installation drawings with staff before submission to company operations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and expand third-party consulting relationships for the company Design Group.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of staffing and engineering operations systems to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
  • Develop training and development programs for the Engineering group.
  • Perform weekly and monthly financial project reviews to ensure profitability and operational performance goals are met.
  • Manage and develop Company pre-sales materials to support the sales team.
  • Hold P&L responsibilities for the Engineering group within the Company.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Professional engineering background and/or 5-10 years of operational experience in managing Design & Architecture
  • Strong understanding of P&L management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design and engineering disciplines, including but not limited to Structural and Mechanical Design.
  • Strong fiscal management skills to provide effective direction.

Technical / Software skills:
  • Proficiency in Revit, Inventor, BIM, AutoCAD, Excel, and MS Word.
