QA Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking experienced QA Engineer to join our established QA team as our resident Automation Specialist. You will be joining a close-knit team of QA Engineers. While your peers possess deep domain knowledge and excel at manual exploratory testing, our current processes need enhanced automation. This position is located in Seattle and requires two days per week in office.

You will act as a specialized peer to the team. Your mission is to design, build and deploy our test automation framework, while collaborating with the existing team to identify automation opportunities. You will also act as a mentor, creating accessible pipelines and training QA peers to write and execute light automation scripts over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Framework Architecture: Evaluate, select, and build robust test automation frameworks that integrate seamlessly across our web and mobile game environments.
  • Peer Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner closely with QA team and leadership to understand current manual test suites, identify high-value regression tests to automate, and lead training sessions to upskill the team in basic automation scripting.
  • Hybrid Execution: Balance framework development with manual exploratory testing alongside the team, ensuring a smooth user experience and high-quality releases.
  • CI/CD Integration: Work with Ops and Engineering to integrate automated tests into our deployment pipelines under the guidance of the QA Manager.
  • Defect Management: Author clear, highly detailed bug reports and collaborate closely with developers and your QA team using Jira to drive resolutions.
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering partners to integrate quality into the development lifecycle.
  • Continual Improvements: Audit the software development lifecycle to guarantee alignment with approved plans, customer needs, regulatory expectations and Quality System standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 6+ years of software QA experience, with a proven track record of building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Team-First Mindset: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for peer mentoring, coaching, and creating accessible documentation for manual testers.
  • Tech Stack Alignment: Strong programming/scripting proficiency in at least one (ideally more) of our core languages: JavaScript, Java, or C#.
  • Cross-Platform Testing: Experience testing web and mobile applications across multiple browsers and devices.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience or familiarity testing within game engines, specifically Unity (e.g., Unity Test Framework, AltTester) or the Haxe ecosystem.
  • Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and backend data verification.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Jira.
