Summary

HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a 5thGen Simulation Software Integration Engineer to support FighterInABox (FIAB) capabilities for the F22 and/or F35 synthetic environments. This role supports Modeling, Simulation, and Training (M&S) integration efforts at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center - Nellis (JITTCN), located at Nellis AFB, NV, in direct support of the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center's Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) team.

As part of an onsite engineering team, you will help deliver highend Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC by supporting the development, refinement, and integration of FIAB software within the JSE architecture. This role requires direct experience with 5thgeneration fighter mission systems and is focused on highfidelity software integration rather than general simulator operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

Provide onsite support for the 31st Combat Training Squadron's JSE training systems at Nellis AFB. As a member of the JSE Engineering Team, you will focus on the troubleshooting, configuration, optimization, and development of the F22 and/or F35 FIAB for advanced synthetic test and training environments within JSE at the JITTCN. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support daily FIAB operations by monitoring system performance and ensuring stable execution within JSE.
  • Troubleshoot FIAB issues by reviewing FIAB source code and/or JSE Platform Plugin (JPP) source code.
  • Integrate 5thgeneration FIAB missionsystem models, sensor models, software interfaces, and avionics behaviors into the JSE synthetic environment.
  • Develop enhancements, resolve defects, and optimize FIAB software performance within distributed or realtime simulation architectures.
  • Integrate FIAB capabilities with other JSE and nonJSE platforms across synthetic training and test environments.
  • Assist with accurately documenting, reporting, and tracking deficiencies related to FIAB and JPP components.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, pilots, and missionsystems SMEs to support reliable, highfidelity synthetic testing and training capability.
What you must have
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in software development and software design.
  • Professional experience supporting or integrating 5thgeneration fighter mission systems, avionics, sensor fusion, LO behaviors, or synthetic environment representations (F22 and/or F35).
  • Experience integrating complex software systems or simulation components in distributed or realtime environments.
  • Ability to modify, debug, and troubleshoot C++ and/or Python source code within simulation frameworks.
  • Experience working with software interfaces, middleware, plugins, APIs, or data models used to connect simulation components.
  • Proficiency working in a Linux commandline environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and initiative to troubleshoot, address, and prevent problems on complex technical systems.
  • Current or active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR clearances.
Preferred Qualificatoins
  • Software development experience with FIAB source code (F22 and/or F35) or JSE Platform Plugin code.
  • Experience integrating simulation software with external systems, sensors, networks, missionsystems models, or other platform components.
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), LiveVirtualConstructive (LVC), or DoD synthetic training systems.
  • Background with distributed simulation middleware such as DIS, HLA, or DDS.
  • Prior experience optimizing performance in highfidelity, realtime synthetic environments.
  • Current DoD TS/SCI clearance or active SAP/SAR accesses.

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
