Job description

McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Head Coach for Girls Varsity Soccer to begin August 2026.

For over 70 years, McLean School has been helping bright K-12 students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model, we embrace both traditional learners and those with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach to individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge but never defining students by them.

The Head Coach for Girls Varsity Soccer is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and directing the Upper School Girls Soccer Program.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have
experience as a Head Coach for Girls Varsity Soccer, College Coach, or Club-Level Coach, effective written and oral communication skills, a connection to the youth and local soccer community, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, and a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience.

Essential Duties

  • Offer positive leadership by coaching the Varsity Program
  • Serve as an ambassador for the School and the Program by connecting and following up with interested scholar-athletes and families
  • Conduct out-of-season programs within league rules, such as strength and conditioning, summer leagues, and pre- and post-season workouts
  • Connect with K-8 students and families to promote participation and involvement in the program.
