Job description

Springbrook Behavioral Health is seeking a Director of Risk Management to join our leadership team at our Behavioral Health hospital in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. 

This position will be responsible for the identification, coordination, and evaluation of responses to threats to the well being of patients and staff members by surveillance of organizational safety and risk. 

You are also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliances and development, and oversight of regulatory corrective action plans. In this role, you will direct risk management activities and coordinate with hospital administration, department directors and managers to mitigate and prevent potential risk to the organization. The role with construct responses to patient care compliance issues and requests for investigation from Joint Commission, CMS, State Licensure Board and other governmental or accredited agencies. This role will organize the development of action plans oriented toward process improvement. This role will also support the Director of Quality and Patient Relations in process improvement activities related to safety, culture, and risk throughout the organization. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: MSN preferred, Degree in nursing and licensure preferred, BS required either in BSN or other related field with comparable work experience.

EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in risk management, safety, and nursing in a hospital preferred. Candidate must have experience in healthcare with behavioral health and pediatric experience preferred. Knowledge of laws and regulations of federal, state, and local governmental agencies as well as Joint Commission, CMS and state licensure standards, rules, and regulations. Must be experienced in Risk Management in a leadership capacity. Additionally, prefer successful process improvement and project management experience. 

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of purpose of safety, risk management, and nursing processes. Demonstrates initiative, integrity, dependability, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, mediate conflict situations, and exhibit a high degree of confidentiality in report and manage patient care and risk information. Demonstrated strong written, persuasive writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills required. Excellent computer skills including both MS Suite and spreadsheet knowledge required. 


WORK RELATIONSHIPS: Must be able to work well with clinical staff, department heads, physicians, administrative staff (including inter- and intra- departments) and community contacts.
