A Director of Nursing is responsible for directing, coordinating and managing all aspects of the patient-facing staff and regulatory responsibilities of the center, leading clinical operations through analytics, technology, and continuous improvement while embodying the primary goals of efficiently combining safe, quality patient care and surgical services that exceed customer (including provider) expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring appropriate patient care is provided at both the regulatory and staffing levels, per the center's policy, to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
  • Fosters positive work relationships amongst all team members and leadership while acting as a staff advocate.
  • Reviews employee performance, education (orientation and annual) and competencies (initial and annual) and provides education or on-the-job training for those requiring additional assistance.
  • Ensures all staff have read and attested to all policies and procedures for the center(s).
  • Ensures staff meeting/in-service occurs once per month with proper documentation in the staff meeting/in-service manual.
  • EMR/EHR leadership: Oversight of documentation quality, workflow optimization, and staff competency in the EMR.
  • Evaluates and summarizes written variance/risk reports to the Administrator and QAPI committee.
  • Approves staff vacation and time off requests.
  • Investigates and resolves all complaints (e.g., staff, patient, provider) and communicates to center leadership on suggested resolution and timing.
  • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients, patients' families, provider(s) and others regardless of culture, age or ethnic background.
  • Presents a no-tolerance attitude toward sexual harassment, ethnic harassment or abusive behavior.
  • Participates and conducts emergency/disaster preparedness drills. Ensures the center meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversight of the Infection Prevention program and coordination with the MEC
  • Ensures that all quality measures required by regulation are tracked and reported to leadership.
  • Assist in staff retention and engagement strategies
  • Follows standards, rules and regulations that govern the center (including: CMS, CO State, TJC, AORN, ASPAN, ANSI, OSHA, AAMI, other organizations). Ensuring center survey readiness and assisting in mock surveys.
  • Acting in accordance with the vision, mission and core values of the center. Never wavering from the primary goal of providing world-class safe quality patient care; finding ways to incorporate efficiency and profitability throughout the enterprise.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be able to deliver the responsibilities both as an individual and as an active leader of the team (dictated by situation).
  • Must possess emotional intelligence and abilities to coach and mentor staff
  • College diploma or equivalent; BSN?? and 24 to 36 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered nurse with an active license in good standing in the State of Colorado.
  • Must maintain active certification for basic life support (BLS/CPR) and advanced care life support (ACLS).
  • Utilize creativity in solving complex problems while involving and empowering others in delivering the solution and resolving conflicts.
  • Attention to detail and timeliness of completion of duties on a daily, weekly and monthly perspective are key.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the responsibilities.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
  • Proficient in technology skills with Word Excel and other surgery center software application(s).
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to materials for an operating room, doctors, nurses and/or other.
