Job description

As a member of this specialty unit providing critical care services, the PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of post-anaesthetic patient care. 

1.Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BCLS and ACLS certification
3. Peri-anaesthesia Nursing Course
4. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in PACU nursing
5. Demonstrated knowledge of anaesthetic techniques and procedures and their implications for nursing assessment and practice
6. Demonstrated knowledge of post-anaesthesia assessment and management of adults, including airway management, invasive cardiac monitoring, pain management and invasive pressure line monitoring
7. Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, patient care environment
8. Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
9. Current certificate in vascular access skills preferred
10. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the assessment and management of patients with acute pain preferred

11. Subject to CPO examination
