Job Overview

The University of Minnesota Medical Center is looking for Registered Nurses to join our growing Hospital Observation unit 1B team. The University of Minnesota Medical Center is the flagship location for University of Minnesota Health providing breakthrough medicine and transforming the health of our community.

This position is a .6 FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period) on the OVERNIGHT shifts (700pm-700am) working 12 hour shifts and every third weekend rotation.

The RN on the Observation team will help adult patients with outpatient care, much like an ED. We deliver excellent patient care to patients from same day surgery as well as transfers from all units; lots of variety!

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN will perform these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • MN RN License
  • BLS required
  • AD required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN or higher preferred
  • Certification in related specialty is helpful
  • One year of current medical/surgical RN experience in a hospital setting is desired
