Job description

Senior Sales Engineer - Army Programs

PacStar is currently seeking a talented Sales Engineer to join our Professional Services team, supporting the Army Account team and the Army Programs Office. You are an expert in listening to customers' requirements and translating those requirements into a solution. You are able to engage customers in dialogs that achieve the best appropriate solution given their multiple requirements. You have experience writing statements of work, assembling bills of materials, and creating Visio design documents. You are able to install the designed solution at the customer's location, provide training, and support the solution after the sale. You are able to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues. You approach problems no one has yet encountered with a solution-oriented mindset and a track record of success. You have in-depth experience in operating systems such as Windows, Windows Server, VMware ESXi & Linux.

Location: Remote - U.S. East Coast

Salary Range: $144,100 - 175,000 per year plus bonus

Your Challenge:

  • You are the Technical Champion for PacStar products and solutions

  • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to customers

  • Analyze requirements, produce engineering designs, create Statements of Work, Person-Time Estimates, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and proposal documents that utilize PacStar products and ancillary networking products for IP voice/data/security/wireless/networking solutions that meet customer requirements

  • Provide technical input into the development of sales proposals, including identification of equipment, contractors and 3rd party vendors required to complete projects

  • Support the sales process, account management teams, and delivery teams

  • Interface with sales staff, resellers' and customers' technical staff in the identification of customer solutions

  • Collaborate with sales team identifying opportunities based on complex requirements and communicate these internally within the business areas of PacStar

  • Work as the Consulting resource for a professional sales team to communicate compelling value propositions and maximize profit for products and services sales

  • Provide technical guidance to other members of the Sales Engineering Team

  • Design, configure, and install network infrastructure and systems using PacStar Strategic and Tactical Unified Communications Products, as well as PacStar partner products (Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Juniper, etc.)

  • Ensure products and services are effectively delivered to the customer

  • Obtain and maintain technical certifications necessary for PacStar success

What you bring:

  • US Citizenship Required

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

  • The ability to travel both domestic and international up to 50% of the time; daily activities may require travel to the engineering labs at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD

  • Domestic and international travel to attend field exercises and fielding activities is required

  • Must have at least 5 years of successful technical experience supporting sales of technical products in similar fields

  • Must have at least 2 -3 years of successful experience deploying network technologies such as wireless, VoIP, LAN, WAN, WLAN, security, and/or enterprise IT systems

  • Current certifications:

    • At least one Cisco CCNP (Router/Switch, Voice, Security, or Wireless) required

    • Aruba ACMP, Juniper JNCIP or relevant experience preferred

  • Experience with any network management applications such as SolarWinds, SNMPc, What's Up Gold, Microsoft Management Console, or Wireshark

  • Windows security administration including certificate management, local security policy, Active Directory, PKI

  • Comfortable editing XML and Windows registry

  • Must have experience fielding, training, and deploying Army solutions.
