Job Title: Director of Pharmacy - Interim Coverage | Behavioral Health
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM + On-Call
Assignment Length: March 30, 2026 - June 30, 2026

Specialty Medical Staffing is currently hiring an Interim Director of Pharmacy for a behavioral health facility in theIndianapolis, IN area. This position will oversee pharmacy operations while also performing staffing responsibilities in an inpatient behavioral health setting. Leadership and inpatient pharmacy experience are required.

This role may also require the pharmacist to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and will involve on-call coverage as needed, including potential weekend on-call.

Assignment Details

  • Start Date: March 30, 2026

  • End Date: June 30, 2026

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • On-call: Required (weekend on-call possible)

  • Setting: Behavioral Health Facility

  • Pharmacy System: HCS (training available)

  • Automation: Pyxis (training available)

Pharmacy Overview

  • Behavioral health facility environment

  • Previous Director of Pharmacy available to assist with onboarding and operational support

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pharmacist staffing duties including order verification and medication dispensing

  • Verify and dispense medications including controlled substances

  • Manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet systems

  • Maintain pharmacy compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state board regulations

  • Oversee pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance as Director of Pharmacy

  • Collaborate with facility leadership and healthcare providers to support safe medication practices

Training & Support

  • Onsite training with outgoing Director of Pharmacy

  • Ongoing remote support from Assistant Director of Pharmacy and other system Directors of Pharmacy

Requirements

  • Active Indiana Pharmacist License in good standing

  • Inpatient pharmacy experience required

  • Leadership experience required

  • Ability to manage pharmacy operations independently

Local candidates are preferred, though travel expenses may be considered for the right candidate.
