Job Description

Position Overview

Vanir is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead large-scale education (K-12) programs. This role provides overall leadership, planning, and execution of multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.

The Project Director supports both design and construction phases and serves as a senior field leader responsible for client interface, scope, schedule, and budget oversight. This position reports to the Area Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and construction activities across multiple projects
  • Develop and manage program implementation plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Serve as the primary liaison with clients and senior stakeholders
  • Oversee program controls including cost, schedule, and performance tracking
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Identify and mitigate risks; resolve project issues and disputes
  • Lead and mentor project teams to deliver high-quality results
  • Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications for compliance
  • Support business development and maintain strong industry relationships

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience managing large capital programs (public sector preferred)
  • 10+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong experience with K-12 or higher education projects
  • Proven ability to manage the full project lifecycle (planning through closeout)

Skills & Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of project controls, cost management, and scheduling
  • Expertise in construction management, contract administration, and delivery methods
  • Solid understanding of drawings, specifications, and project accounting
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer (PE)
