Job description

Hammond Academy of Science and Technology is looking for an instructional assistant to provide daily small group instruction for select students in grades 6 through 8. The instructional assistant will work closely with the middle school teachers and school leadership. The instructional assistant will provide support to students in the classroom on their designated learning needs.

The appropriate candidate will have a strong sense of data analysis, as well as content knowledge of the Indiana Math and/or English/Language Arts standards for grades 6 through 8. The candidate will be responsible for supervising a classroom of students when the classroom teacher is required to meet with school administration. Candidates also will be responsible for working with small groups of students in different locations to provide targeted instruction based on their needs.

HAST is a small school, serving a diverse population of 600 students in grades 6-12. The average general education class size is approximately 25 students.

This is a full-time position for the 2026-27 school year.

Bachelor Degree preferred.
