PRACTICE DESCRIPTION

Industrial and operational technology programs require field resources who can work effectively across site operations, infrastructure, engineering, networking, cybersecurity, vendors, and remote support teams.

The Onsite Field Support Engineer โ€“ OT role supports site implementation activities by helping translate approved technical plans into deployed, validated, documented, and supportable site environments.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a handsโ€‘on and technically adaptable Onsite Field Support Engineer โ€“ OT to support site readiness, infrastructure coordination, asset onboarding, implementation validation, troubleshooting, documentation, and support transition activities in operational technology environments.

The ideal candidate has broad technical capability across infrastructure, networking, endpoint/device support, and practical OT environments. The role requires strong problemโ€‘solving skills, field execution discipline, and the ability to coordinate effectively with site personnel, engineering teams, vendors, and remote support organisations.

Role positioning:

This is a versatile field role that combines infrastructure support, network troubleshooting, site coordination, asset onboarding, documentation, and practical OT awareness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Site Implementation Support
  • Support site onboarding, implementation readiness, and deployment activities for OT and industrial environments.
  • Assist with site surveys, readiness checks, deployment logistics, and implementation preparation.
  • Coordinate local field activities with project teams, engineering resources, site personnel, vendors, and support teams.
  • Identify access issues, site constraints, environmental limitations, and technical dependencies that may affect implementation.
Network and Infrastructure Support
  • Assist with installation, validation, and troubleshooting of network and security infrastructure.
  • Support connectivity checks, cabling coordination, device placement, switchport identification, VLAN/IP information gathering, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Validate communication paths between OT assets, site infrastructure, monitoring platforms, and approved network/security services.
  • Coordinate with specialised engineering teams when configuration, architecture, or advanced troubleshooting support is required.
OT Asset Onboarding and Inventory Support
  • Assist with identification, validation, and documentation of OT assets and supporting infrastructure.
  • Support asset inventory reconciliation, ownership validation, and documentation updates.
  • Assist with onboarding assets into approved monitoring, visibility, or support platforms where applicable.
  • Validate asset connectivity and basic operational readiness after implementation activities.
Testing, Readiness, and Troubleshooting
  • Support implementation testing, connectivity validation, readiness reviews, and defect tracking.
  • Provide handsโ€‘on troubleshooting for connectivity, endpoint, OT asset, infrastructure, and deploymentโ€‘related issues.
  • Perform initial triage and coordinate escalation to engineering, architecture, vendor, or operations teams as needed.
  • Support postโ€‘implementation stabilisation and earlyโ€‘life support activities where required.
Documentation and Support Transition
  • Maintain site implementation notes, deployment records, asset information, and support transition documentation.
  • Assist with updates to site diagrams, connectivity records, inventory data, and support artefacts.
  • Support knowledge transfer between implementation teams and steadyโ€‘state support teams.
  • Ensure information required by operations teams is accurate, complete, and accessible.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in field support, infrastructure support, networking, cybersecurity, industrial technology, or implementation roles.
  • Experience supporting siteโ€‘based technology deployments, infrastructure implementation, or operational readiness activities.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, IP addressing, VLANs, routing/switching concepts, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, laboratory, industrial, or operational environments where safety, production continuity, and site coordination are important.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to travel and support onsite implementation activities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting OT, industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with ICT, OT asset types, industrial networks, or plantโ€‘floor connectivity.
  • Experience with switches, firewalls, monitoring tools, endpoint connectivity, or infrastructure deployment activities.
  • Experience supporting asset discovery, inventory validation, monitoring platform onboarding, or site documentation activities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, Microsoft, ITIL, or comparable infrastructure/security certifications.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $104,800 to $192,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $125,800 to $218,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
