Description

Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure is a private, member-owned community located in the beautiful foothills of western North Carolina. With residential neighborhoods, vacation accommodations, golf courses, dining, recreational amenities, and year-round activities, Rumbling Bald offers a unique environment serving members, guests, and Associates.


We are currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Security.  The Director is responsible for the leadership, administration, and operational effectiveness of the Security Department. The Director oversees personnel, security operations, policy enforcement, training, incident response, and departmental resources while promoting a professional, accountable, and service-oriented approach to community security.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and evaluate the overall activities and performance of the Security Department.
  • Execution of departmental priorities, operating procedures, performance expectations, and standards of conduct.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, attendance, payroll, recruitment, training, performance management, and other personnel functions.
  • Provide leadership to Team Lead and ensure effective supervision and accountability of Security Associates.
  • Direct patrol, access-control, traffic-control, and other Security operations.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of Association policies, procedures, and applicable directives.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures, post orders, training standards, and operating manuals.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws affecting Security operations and ensure personnel operate within their assigned authority.
  • Provide management oversight for significant incidents, emergencies, accidents, complaints, and investigations, including appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, and other external responders as necessary.
  • Monitor departmental performance, identify operational or safety concerns, and recommend improvements to the Senior Director of POA Operations.
  • Prepare and administer departmental operating and capital budgets and oversee fleet vehicles and security related equipment, technology, and other resources.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with members, guests, associates, contractors, emergency responders, and other departments.
  • Address escalated concerns related to Security operations, enforcement, or Security personnel.
  • Communicate significant incidents, departmental needs, and operational concerns to the Senior Director of POA Operations.
  • Exercise sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
  • Maintain sufficient availability outside normal working hours for significant incidents, emergencies, or other matters requiring Director-level involvement.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education,  training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in security, public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, military service, community operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or management experience, including responsibility for staff performance, scheduling, training, and accountability.
  • Strong leadership, judgment, decision-making, conflict-resolution, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with members, guests, Associates, and outside agencies.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets, personnel, and operational resources.
  • Proficiency with standard business technology and the ability to learn and effectively use security-related systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate Association vehicles.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within a designated period after hire.


Physical Requirements

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with others in person, by phone, and by radio. 
  • Sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods, including working outdoors in hot, humid, or inclement weather conditions. 
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. 
  • Bend, stoop, twist, reach overhead and below the knees, and use hands and fingers to handle or operate equipment. 
  • Perform duties that may involve physical activity and stressful or challenging situations. 
  • Manage multiple responsibilities and priorities while maintaining composure and sound judgment. 
  • Safely operate Association vehicles as required in the performance of job duties.
