Onboarding & Credentialing Specialist

Brooklyn, NY (On-Site)
$100,000 – $130,000

Position Overview

A large, multi-site healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Onboarding & Credentialing Specialist to oversee the onboarding, credentialing, recredentialing, and payer enrollment process for physicians and advanced practice providers. This role is critical to ensuring providers are fully credentialed, compliant, and able to begin seeing patients without delays. The ideal candidate will have hands-on provider credentialing experience, strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer enrollment, and experience working in a multi-provider healthcare organization.

Requirements

3+ years of provider credentialing and onboarding experience

Experience credentialing physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or other licensed providers

Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, CAQH, NPPES, PECOS, and commercial payer enrollment

Experience managing initial credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging processes

Familiarity with New York provider licensing and regulatory requirements

Strong organizational and follow-up skills

Ability to manage multiple providers and deadlines simultaneously

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and credentialing software or provider databases

Experience in a multi-site healthcare organization, medical group, or outpatient healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

Coordinate onboarding for newly hired providers from offer acceptance through start date

Ensure all required documentation, licenses, certifications, and compliance requirements are completed

Manage initial credentialing, recredentialing, and payer enrollment

Maintain CAQH profiles and credentialing databases

Track licenses, DEA registrations, board certifications, malpractice coverage, and credential expirations

Work closely with HR, providers, operations, finance, and leadership throughout onboarding

Maintain accurate credentialing records and prepare documentation for audits

Identify opportunities to improve onboarding and credentialing workflows

Must-Haves

Provider credentialing experience

Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer enrollment experience

CAQH, PECOS, and NPPES experience

Experience in a multi-provider healthcare organization

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple credentialing files simultaneously
