POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss' Engineering Lead works in concert with the Engineering Manager, Internal Closing Team, and Subject Matter Experts to successfully design a solar project. Project Engineering Leads are expected to co-manage Project Engineers in daily coordination with and between Operation Teams and the EORs through the design process.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Familiar with utility-scale solar project designs, including single-line drawings, civil, structural, electrical site plans, DC and AC wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts
  • Understand the construction applications of solar power plant design, including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking/tracker design and powering
  • Possess a knowledge of electrical and system studies required for plant designs
  • Possess a general knowledge of civil designs, including road design, plant grading design, drainage design, and permitting coordination
  • Comfortable traveling cross-country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams
  • Have experience with substation design review and coordination at medium voltages (usually 34.5 kV) to the point of interconnect
  • Organizing and drafting engineering-related RFI's and handling high-level problem-solving in coordination with pre-construction and operational counterparts
  • Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems
  • General knowledge of solar plant SCADA requirements and design
  • Ability to develop, review, and approve engineering scope of work documents for external engineering partners
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required
  • Must have a great attitude in working with the Moss team
  • Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and methods of construction in power systems
  • Solar electrical systems background
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) as it relates to utility-scale power plants is a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once
