Summary of Position
The Director of Program Management Office (PMO) provides strategic leadership and governance for the organization's enterprise programs and key business initiatives. This role establishes project and program management standards, aligns initiatives with organizational strategy, and ensures consistent execution across all business functions. The Director partners with executive leadership to prioritize strategic initiatives, allocate resources, lead implementation, monitor performance, manage risks, and drive accountability to achieve business objectives.
The Director of PMO develops a culture of disciplined execution, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration, while providing leadership to Program Managers and project teams throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Program Leadership
    • Provide strategic leadership for the Program Management Office (PMO), ensuring enterprise initiatives/program abstracts align with the organization's strategic vision, annual business objectives, and long-term growth plans.
    • Partner with executive leadership to prioritize initiatives based on business value, organizational capacity, risk, and return on investment.
    • Demonstrate strong business acumen by evaluating opportunities, identifying organizational risks, and recommending solutions that support operational and financial performance.
    • Translate executive strategy into actionable programs with clearly defined objectives, timelines, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

Portfolio & Program Governance
    • Lead the organization's portfolio of strategic programs and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and expected business outcomes.
    • Establish enterprise governance standards, project prioritization processes, and stage-gate reviews that promote accountability and execution excellence.
    • Develop executive dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) that provide visibility into program health, risks, financial performance, and resource utilization beyond implementation.
    • Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate program risks while recommending corrective actions to executive leadership.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, eliminate barriers, and streamline cross-functional execution.
    • Promote disciplined project planning, governance, documentation, and performance measurement across all departments.

Enterprise Collaboration & Influence
Foster strong partnerships across all business functions to ensure strategic initiatives are coordinated, aligned, and successfully executed.

    • Promote transparency by ensuring leaders have visibility into enterprise priorities, project performance, risks, and dependencies.
    • Represent the PMO as a strategic business partner that drives organizational effectiveness and execution excellence.

Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience.
  • 7+ years leading enterprise projects or programs.
  • Experience building or leading a Program Management Office preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and Boards preferred.
  • Experience in construction, industrial services, manufacturing, or related industries preferred.

    • Project Management Professional (PMP)

    • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
    • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
