Job description

REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS – WAREHOUSE (4-WALL OPERATIONS)

Job Description

Capstone Logistics is a leading North American supply chain solutions partner with more than 700 operating locations and 22,000+ associates. We provide warehouse and distribution center support, fulfillment, last mile delivery, and supply chain optimization solutions. We are uniquely positioned to help our partners reduce costs while improving service execution.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Director of Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence and Partner satisfaction through full ownership of end-to-end warehouse (4-wall) operations across a multi-site region. This leader provides strategic direction, hands-on operational leadership, and accountability to a group of Site Leaders responsible for executing all warehouse activities within assigned facilities. This includes receiving, put-away, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping operations. The role requires a proven operator who can drive performance across labor, productivity, safety, service, and financial results in high-volume distribution environments, including highly automated warehouse and fulfillment operations. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and requires up to 75% travel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive full ownership of 4-wall warehouse operations across multiple sites, ensuring consistent execution of receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping functions.
  • Maximize operational efficiency using defined KPIs (CPH, UPH, dock-to-stock, order cycle time), continuously improving productivity and throughput.
  • Lead and optimize automated warehouse operations, including conveyor and sortation systems, AS/RS, goods-to-person technologies, robotics/AMRs, and related WMS/WCS/WES solutions to improve throughput, labor efficiency, reliability, and service performance.
  • Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy, quality control, and operational discipline across all facilities.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable Site Leaders, Operations Managers, and Supervisors across the region.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices across all warehouse locations.
  • Own regional labor planning, workforce optimization, and staffing models to align with volume and productivity targets.
  • Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits, operational audits, and performance reviews to ensure consistent execution and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage and deliver against regional P&L and cost control targets, including labor spend, operating costs, and margin performance.
  • Plan, implement, and execute strategies to achieve budgeted sales, pricing, and gross margin objectives.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support hiring, retention, performance management, and workforce planning across all sites.
  • Communicate and resolve escalated operational issues, ensuring strong partner relationships and service delivery.
  • Provide regional insights on performance, risks, and opportunities to Senior Leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data, metrics, and lean methodologies to drive sustainable operational gains.
  • Support new site startups, transitions, and operational turnarounds as needed.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field required
  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse or distribution center operations with multi-site responsibility (a must)
  • Proven experience managing full-service (4-wall) warehouse operations, not limited to transportation or logistics coordination.
  • Direct operational leadership experience in automated distribution or fulfillment environments is required, including hands-on experience with warehouse automation technologies such as conveyor/sortation, AS/RS, goods-to-person systems, robotics/AMRs, and WMS/WCS/WES platforms. Experience supporting automation implementation, commissioning, ramp-up, or optimization is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams (100+ indirect reports across multiple sites)
  • Strong background in high-volume distribution environments (retail, grocery, e-commerce, or similar).
  • Experience owning P&L or cost center performance.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of improving productivity, throughput, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Experience launching new facilities, scaling operations, or leading operational turnarounds preferred.
  • Must be able and willing to travel 50%-75% or more if business needs demand.

BOTTOM LINE:

This role is built for operators who can run buildings, lead teams, understand and optimize warehouse automation, and deliver measurable results across multiple sites. If your experience is primarily transportation, brokerage, or account management without true warehouse ownership and direct exposure to automated distribution operations, you will not be successful in this specific role.
