FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Director of Operations to lead multiple production, warehouse, quality, operations, and value-added service teams within an electronic components environment. This permanent, onsite role is responsible for improving operational efficiency, maximizing asset utilization, supporting on-time delivery, eliminating bottlenecks, improving throughput, overseeing departmental budgets, optimizing staffing, and driving process improvements across production and distribution operations. The ideal candidate will have strong operational leadership experience, electronics or semiconductor industry experience, Lean/Six Sigma knowledge, value stream mapping experience, and the ability to help grow revenue and throughput without simply adding headcount.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing multiple operations teams to ensure processes are carried out according to plan
  • Supporting on-time delivery of customer orders
  • Ensuring prompt processing of expedites, schedule changes, customer returned product, and production or warehouse priorities
  • Overseeing manufacturing orders, customer orders, product-related items, and non-product items across production and warehouse departments
  • Ensuring orders and operational priorities are processed accurately, on time, and according to department needs
  • Proactively identifying and resolving internal capacity and operations constraints
  • Working with Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors, department heads, and team members to eliminate bottlenecks and delays
  • Identifying labor-intensive processes and developing improvement opportunities
  • Facilitating cost savings measures and operational efficiencies
  • Driving Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, and value stream mapping initiatives
  • Evaluating asset utilization, staffing, workflow, throughput, equipment capacity, and process flow
  • Helping optimize operations to support business growth without unnecessary headcount expansion
  • Approving and monitoring department budgets and purchases
  • Reducing costs, managing expenses, and eliminating waste across areas of responsibility
  • Analyzing staffing needs on an ongoing basis to ensure optimal coverage
  • Supporting cross-training initiatives to cover key functions and accommodate fluctuations in work volume
  • Serving as the head of Material Review Board operations
  • Ensuring material is dispositioned in a timely manner
  • Supporting rework, additional processing steps, and related action items as needed
  • Providing data and information to assist Quality with disposition recommendations
  • Overseeing inventory accuracy
  • Serving as final approval for changes to standards and methods related to handling, processing, packing, stocking, cycle counting, and shipping
  • Ensuring Operations works cooperatively with Materials to communicate anticipated delivery issues and output problems
  • Conferring with Quality on rejected product and inspection-related issues
  • Supporting root cause analysis for product quality requests
  • Reviewing and responding to reports and inquiries related to operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues
  • Supporting minimum cost, maximum efficiency, and prevention of production delays
  • Overseeing equipment coordinators to ensure optimal operational performance and equipment utilization
  • Supporting minimal downtime and timely resolution of equipment issues
  • Researching new or replacement equipment
  • Preparing cost and ROI proposals for equipment-related requests
  • Making recommendations and overseeing equipment release to production
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance and calibration efforts for production equipment
  • Collaborating with Engineering to resolve production failures and yield issues
  • Collaborating with new product development teams on processing capabilities, equipment needs, process mapping, lead times, and work instruction requirements
  • Overseeing production departments, including cleanroom, finishing, production control, production test, QC, and operations technical teams
  • Overseeing warehouse departments, including inventory, packing, receiving, and shipping
  • Providing leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation across assigned departments
  • Managing responsibilities directly or through Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors
  • Supporting interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisal, coaching, discipline, complaint resolution, and problem solving
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of management experience in electronics production, distribution, mechanical manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, or a related operational environment required
  • 10+ years of management-level production experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing 3 or more functional departments required
  • Previous experience with electronic components required
  • Experience with discrete semiconductors, semiconductor distribution, or value-added electronic component services preferred
  • Experience with production, upscreening, value-added services, QC, cleanroom, and warehouse operations preferred
  • Experience with semiconductors in packaged or bare die form preferred
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience preferred
  • Operational Excellence experience required
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience required
  • Value stream mapping experience required
  • Experience optimizing asset utilization, process flow, staffing, throughput, and operational efficiency required
  • Ability to identify bottlenecks, constraints, waste, and process improvement opportunities required
  • Ability to support growth initiatives without relying solely on headcount increases required
  • Strong understanding of electronics, voltage, current, or electrical components preferred
  • Experience in distribution, supply chain, production, warehouse, testing, screening, inspection, or related technical operations preferred
  • Experience managing budgets, purchases, labor planning, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Experience with ERP systems required
  • AS/400 experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, and work instructions
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, team members, and customers
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to create timely machine schedules and production estimates using established production rates
  • Strong leadership, organization, planning, business acumen, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong analytical, communication, follow-through, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to complexity and change
  • Ability to work onsite in Hauppauge, NY

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods while leading operations, reviewing data, attending meetings, analyzing reports, and working at a computer
  • Ability to walk throughout production, warehouse, cleanroom, QC, operations, equipment, office, and related work areas as needed
  • Ability to see, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers for computer work, documentation, reports, production information, equipment review, and standard operations tasks
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to review operational reports, production schedules, budgets, inventory data, ERP information, quality records, customer order information, and computer screens for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate by phone, email, video meeting, and in person throughout the workday
  • Ability to work in environments where there may be occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and moderate noise

Salary Range: $140,000 to $170,000/year plus approximately 20% bonus potential
