Job description

The Hyperbaric Safety Director will be responsible for the safe operation of a HBOT program, including patient safety, staff training, equipment oversight, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness. This will be under the direct supervision of the Program Director and the Medical Director. They will also assist in delivery hyperbaric treatments while also maintaining the safety of the patient and environment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and oversee the facility's hyperbaric safety program.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, such as those from:
    • Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society
    • National Fire Protection Association (particularly NFPA 99 requirements for hyperbaric facilities)
    • Federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Create and maintain safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
  • Lead safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, inspection, and testing of hyperbaric chambers and related equipment.
  • Oversee infection control and environmental safety practices within the hyperbaric department.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, hyperbaric technologists, engineers, and facility management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hyperbaric medicine experience.
  • Certification such as:
    • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
    • Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN)
  • Knowledge of hyperbaric chamber operations and safety standards.
  • Experience managing staff, policies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and incident-management skills.
  • Must be willing to take call as we are a 24/7 critical care hyperbaric facility
