Role Responsibilities
TCCI is looking to grow our Decatur, IL-based Purchasing organization. To support our growth and new market opportunities, the Company seeks to hire a Director of Procurement to support our electrical compressor, mechanical compressor, and systems products. In this role, the Director of Procurement will collaborate with internal stakeholders inside our Engineering Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure the Company produces a high-quality product that meets the needs of our customers. Additionally, this role will collaborate with our suppliers to help them develop solutions that meet our manufacturing, design, and application needs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Director of Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in our procurement operations, focusing on sourcing and purchasing essential commodities to meet our organization's needs. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods at competitive prices. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including Engineering and Quality, to understand their requirements and align procurement strategies to support business objectives. You will lead the purchasing team in the Decatur location and collaborate with the purchasing teams at our other locations. This role demands a keen understanding of market trends, supply chain dynamics, and cost management to optimize purchasing decisions and mitigate risks. Your ability to foster strong supplier partnerships will be critical in driving efficiency and exacting standards of quality and reliability across our supply chain operations.
Supply Base Management and Performance
• Establish and maintain an assigned supply base that operates in partnership with TCCI to deliver the best quality products for the lowest acquisition cost.
• Develop, maintain, and support both global and regional sourcing strategies.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Monitor market trends and supplier capabilities to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
Project Management
• Responsible for the management of and contribution to Purchasing and Engineering projects.
• Identify, assess, and develop new and existing suppliers across North America.
• Ensure that the best suppliers are selected to support TCCI's objectives, through on-site audits and evaluations of products, operations, and systems.
Cost Management
• Achieve net reduction in annualized material purchase cost.
• Negotiate pricing and terms that meet TCCI's annual inflation and financial objectives.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules. Implement cost-saving initiatives and monitor contract compliance.
• Ensure supplier selection and initial price establishment meet and/or exceed both schedule and cost objectives, per project schedule.
• Develop new proposals with suppliers, resulting in lower cost and/or improved quality.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
• 5 or more years of direct experience in procurement or related supply chain function, preferably in the vehicle manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of International and Domestic purchasing practices and procedures.
• Negotiation and problem resolution skills.
• Proficiency in software applications like Microsoft Office, ERP systems (i.e., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle), and procurement-related systems.
• Ability to manage the business relationships between TCCI and suppliers while implementing corrective actions when TCCI's expectations are not met.
• Ability to strategically evaluate the engineering, manufacturing, and quality systems for each supplier.
• Supplier development based on APQP and PPAP processes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Experience with technical systems, applications, and industry standards of purchased commodities.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or Logistics. (MBA preferred)
